Enhance Your Nutrition

Genetic engineering and genome research are helping the pharmaceutical industry in its search for new active substances.

Because genetics is by its very nature so complicated that the equally complex technologies based on it seem mystifying, I will attempt a simplified explanation based on sound scientific research and principles.

Since human DNA was decoded almost completely for the first time in 2000 in the Human Genome project, this young key technology and it's seemingly infinite possibilities have become a subject for debate not only among scientists but also in society in general.

One thing can already be forecast with certainty; the biosciences will dominate our industrial society in the 21st century. In the coming decade's genetic engineering will be a decisive influence on both our economy and society as a whole and will also open up a wealth of inconceivable opportunities.

We are all different.

Especially when it comes to using nutrition and supplements. Your 30,000 genes dictate your nutritional uniqueness.

The human metabolism is controlled and affected by proteins. They are the essential building blocks and catalysts in innumerable vital processes. Free radicals are known to attack the structure of cell membranes, which interferes with cell communication, disturb DNA, RNA and protein synthesis hereby lowering energy levels and impeding vital cell processes.

This leads to illness and development of all chronic conditions.

Lifestyle, all drugs, diet, pollution, radiation and other factors increase free radical damage.

Some of the proteins needed by patients organisms are either not produced at all or in insufficient quantities or are of the wrong quality or as a result of genetic changes or corresponding environmental influences such as infection.

Let's repeat that, proteins, not genes are the building blocks of life, they make up muscle fiber, nerves cells or hormones for example and also regulate metabolic processes in the form of enzymes and are used as structural proteins in animal cells. In the cell, proteins are synthesized in the cytoplasm not in the cell nucleus.

The Ribosome's or protein factories of the cell are located here. To do their job the ribosome's need a production order from the cell nucleus, this is done by transcribing the genetic code of a gene on the DNA into a chemically closely related molecule, the transcript acts as messenger RNA, when the gene has been read in the cell nucleus the messenger RNA travels to the ribosome's where the genetic code is read out by linking one amino acid to another in accordance with the sequence of amino acid bases until a complete 3 dimensional protein chain unfolds, the language of the amino acid bases is translated into the language of the protein building blocks in this step. It is consequently known as translation. To recap, the ribosome's or protein factories need a production order of these amino acids from the cell nucleus.

A production order is the cells request for these essential amino acids.

What is Somatopause... ?
Somatopause is the declining mid-life phase in the human life cycle during which reduced GH levels result in a noticeable reduction in physiological function. During Somatopause the cells and organs gradually dehydrate and diminish in size and function. Somatopause usually begins when people reach their mid-forties but can start years earlier. It is possible for some individuals in their forties to have IGF-1 levels usually expected of a person in their seventies and vice versa. Lifestyles apparently play an important role, along with heredity and environment. By the 60th birthday it is not uncommon to see declines from 60% to 75% of normal levels. It is no wonder that so many middle-aged people report feeling old with little vitality.

What happens to GH when we Age?
The secretion of GH peaks by the early 20's when structural growth diminishes. Production of GH then falls more than 75% from age 20 to 60. As you will see from the graph (link), practically everyone over the age of 40 has a GH deficiency. Somatopause, the decline of Growth Hormone, sometimes refers to the physical conditions of aging. Symptoms include increased body fat, old dry skin, loss of hair color, decreased energy, and the loss of deep healing sleep, along with the loss of muscle mass, decreased physical activity, communication, mood and energy levels, diminished healing ability, a greater risk of cardiovascular disease and lower life expectancy. We commonly call this "Aging"

What is anti-aging medicine, and how did it come about?
Anti-aging is a new medical subspecialty in which the aging process can be slowed, suspended and in some cases reversed. It came about as a shift in thinking from aging as an inevitable process to aging as a series of disease processes. Aging processes can be measured, and, as with any disease, there are symptoms and treatments.

Why Should You Recommend Anti-Aging Therapy?
[The benefits of increasing GH levels in adults (30 years+) have been well documented. Slowing, stopping or even reversing the biological aging process is simple, practical and possible.

Revitalization of energy levels, increased immune functions, regeneration of all major organs (including the skin) and strengthening of bones are just a few of the benefits of increased GH level s.

Today you need not passively accept the inevitability of aging. We believe Anti-Aging medicine to be the preventive medicine of the 21st Century, and perhaps the future.

Our goal is to provide you with the information and the tools necessary to experience a measurable improvement in your quality of life.

How does anti-aging medicine differ from wellness and holistic medicine?
Anti-aging medicine is a comprehensive practice of preventive medicine that incorporates components of holistic and wellness medicine but goes beyond them with board-certified physicians utilizing specific high-tech testing procedures and medical treatments. Wellness and holistic medicine don't generally deal in conventional therapies.

THE SIMPLE APPROACH

As promoters of anti-aging techniques, we believe in a holistic approach to health and wellness.

Following are approaches
we feel will promote a long, healthy and energetic life.

Detoxification - Getting the toxins out is foundational in aiding our bodies’ ability to restore itself. We are assaulted by a variety of toxins in the air we breathe, the food we eat, and many of the products that we use on our
bodies every single day. These toxins are stored in our internal organs and tissues greatly affecting our bodies’ ability to heal itself. We recommend taking a very aggressive approach to detoxification.

Balanced Nutrition - Consume organic raw or lightly cooked fresh foods:fruits, vegetables (especially green leafy types), grains, nuts, seeds; fish and poultry. Living whole foods are always best. Where possible, eat organic meats. Limit consumption of red meats and processed non - living foods; certain fats and oils, sugars, salt and alcohol. Utilize synergistic vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids and amino acids. Drink purified (reverse osmosis) water. A day of liquids only (juicing) will promote healing, cleansing, and organ function.

Nutritional Supplementation - Today the four leading causes of premature death are heart disease, cancer, stroke, and diabetes, all of which are
lifestyle-based, degenerative diseases.

None of those diseases are infectious and, according to current research, all of them can be prevented by a healthy, balanced diet and lifestyle.

Centuries of very aggressive commercial farming on this planet has virtually destroyed and depleted our top soil which is the only place we can access the majority of the trace minerals and nutrients our bodies require in order to be successful at preventing disease.
Nutrition and Hormones
Individuals with low cholesterol levels (below 160) especially need fats and oils to make hormones. The best sources are unrefined olive, coconut, whole fish, flax, black currant, evening primrose, borage, hemp and butter. Evidence shows that is the oxidation of the arteries and cholesterol, not high cholesterol levels that cause circulatory disease. Too low of cholesterol levels may lead to hormonal imbalances, decreased brain function (dementia, Alzheimer’s) and other health deficiencies.

Hormone Supplementation - The decline in biomarkers is directly related to the adverse signs of aging. Those of us with naturally lower amounts of certain hormones age much faster and more visibly than those of us who by reason of genes or high exercise level maintain a higher level of hormone production for a longer period of time. This loss of hormones with age is similar to that seen with menopause.

Natural supplementation beginning at the age of 30 and up may allow you to slow or even stop the aging process. Of course Amino Acids are the ultimate anti aging compound on the planet at this time.
Deep Restorative Sleep - Deep sleep coincides with the release of growth hormone in children and young adults.

Our cells also show increased production and reduced breakdown of proteins during deep sleep.

Since proteins are the building blocks needed for cell growth and for repair of damage from factors like stress and ultraviolet rays, deep sleep may truly be "beauty sleep." Activity in parts of the brain that control emotions, decision-making processes, and social interactions is drastically reduced during deep sleep, suggesting that this type of sleep may help people maintain optimal emotional and social functioning while they are awake..

Consistent Exercise - Try to vary your exercise from day to day withbrisk walking, swimming, weight training, dancing, yoga and active sports.

Strength and aerobic exercises help the body to support the cardiovascular system.

It is best to exercise when blood sugar levels are normalized (at least 2½ hours after eating).

Studies have shown that consistent exercise will also sharpen the mind and balance emotions.

And - Daily sun bath (without glasses) with as much exposed skin as feasible for 10-20 minutes. Evidence shows that daily sun exposure may be as important to maintaining optimal health as any other component.

Practice deep breathing techniques in clean air and utilize relaxation methods such as meditation and visualization.

Visualization techniques.

The surprising fact is that many conditions can be improved by visualization and weight loss is one of them. It works like this: you keep a vision in your mind of how you want your body to look, and subconsciously you will begin acting in a way that will go in that direction. You become much more positive about your body, more accepting of your diet or fitness regime, and you will reach your weight goals more quickly and easily.

Effecting change through visualizing desired outcomes has become more and more acceptable in recent years. Psychologists do not understand exactly how it works but clearly the mind and body are not as separate as we often believe. It seems that if you truly want something it is more likely to happen - provided of course that it is something that is possible, and within your control. Visualization helps us to truly want to lose weight by creating a clear and happy picture of our fitter bodies. Without this we can often put psychological traps in our own path.

Many people who are overweight believe they cannot lose weight. Sometimes you may say it out loud, or hear friends say it about themselves. For other people this belief stays in the subconscious. But it is sure that it influences our behavior. Someone who believes it is impossible for her to lose weight will be constantly battling her own negativity when she is trying to diet. Her mind will be constantly telling her there is no point dieting, she cannot lose weight so she should just go ahead and eat everything she wants. Visualization is the strongest technique that we can use to overcome these negative thoughts and impulses.

If you are plagued by negativity either from your own mind or from the reactions of friends and family to your diet, go ahead and visualize yourself at your desired weight as often as you can. It works on the same level as all those negative voices and can annihilate their influence like nothing else can.

It is important to practice every day - morning and evening if you can. You just need to take a few minutes in a quiet place and keep an image in your mind of your body at its ideal weight. Some people can do this easily, others need some help. If you have a photograph of yourself at your ideal weight in the past, you may find it easier to look at that. Or use a photo from a magazine but cut off the person's face. You need to visualize your own body, but thinner.

You can also visualize from the inside. Close your eyes and let your awareness focus on a part of your body - for example, your right thigh. Imagine it slowly becoming thinner in your mind's eye. Then move to the other thigh, and on through the body. It may help to start at the feet and move up towards the head, or vice versa.

As you go about your work or daily chores, think of yourself as already at your ideal weight. Create your own affirmations and repeat them often, always in the present tense ("I am glad to be flexible, fit and slim", not "I will ..."). Enjoy the feeling of having a positive self-image. Over time, this will help you to keep to your weight loss plan. You will find that fatty foods are less attractive and exercise is more enjoyable.

While your weight loss will of course be gradual, the wonderful thing about visualization is that it gives you a new body image right away. Use visualization and weight loss to make you happier right now, today!

Who are your patients? Is this just for seniors and retirees? Who would benefit from this the most? When is it too late?

It's almost never too late, however, the sooner you begin, the more benefits you derive from an improved quality of life. The people who benefit most are those who are motivated to stay healthy in their later years and those that are suffering from certain chronic conditions. It's not just for seniors or retirees. Just as you save for retirement with pensions and the like, this is preventive medicine.

What is involved in natural hormone replacement therapy?
Hormones are chemical messengers that control bodily functions. Aging depletes the body's hormonal levels. We are able to restore hormone and other biomarker levels to where they were in the patient's early 30s. In most cases, this can be done naturally with secretagogues, which release the hormones already made by the body.
